Manchester United have been tipped to make an audacious move to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold, with former Red Devils defender Antonio Valencia urging the club to lure the Liverpool academy product from Real Madrid.
Alexander-Arnold's Struggles at Real Madrid
The 26-year-old right-back endured a mixed first season at the Santiago Bernabéu after joining on a free transfer last summer. He started just 14 of 37 La Liga matches and played a bit-part role in the Champions League, with form and fitness issues preventing him from showcasing his full potential. His lack of game time also cost him a place in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Valencia's Endorsement
Speaking to Hajper, Valencia said: "Trent is a player I like a lot. He has a very good right foot, he crosses well, and he is a player who defends well. He would be very good for Manchester United. He knows the Premier League. He knows what it means to win the Champions League and the Premier League."
The former Ecuador international added: "He is a passionate player, and I would like to see him at Manchester United. Hopefully it could happen, because we need players like that at Old Trafford. To play at that stadium, you need people with a lot of personality."
Impact on Diogo Dalot
Valencia, however, does not want Alexander-Arnold's potential arrival to force Diogo Dalot out of the club. "Manchester always have to renew the squad, and this is a team that we hope can have a good Premier League season and win it. But in terms of a right-back ... I just hope that whoever comes in can be the best possible option. And I hope Dalot does not leave, of course," he said.
