Lululemon has opened a new flagship store at the Trafford Centre, marking a major first for the shopping complex with the launch of a pop-up padel court. The fitness megastore, located on Lower Regent Crescent, debuted alongside a temporary padel court set up outside The Great Hall, near the former Orangery. This is the first time the sport of padel has been available at the Trafford Centre.
Pop-Up Padel Court Details
The lululemon x Trafford Centre padel court offers one-hour sessions for £36, bookable through the Playtomic app. The court is open daily from 10am to 10pm until Thursday, July 23. Guests are advised to arrive ten minutes before their booking for check-in.
According to a statement from the Trafford Centre: "Whether you're a seasoned player or picking up a racket for the very first time, lululemon's pop-up court offers the perfect opportunity to discover why padel has become the UK's fastest-growing sport this summer." The statement added: "Fast-paced, easy to learn and designed for doubles, it's a game that's all about getting active, having fun and spending time with friends."
Centre Director's Comments
Simon Layton, Centre Director at Trafford Centre, said: "We're always looking for new ways to bring exciting experiences to Trafford Centre, and this partnership with lululemon does exactly that. Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world and has built an incredible following across Greater Manchester. Bringing a premium court to the heart of our destination gives visitors the opportunity to experience this sport in a fun, accessible way while celebrating the opening of lululemon's fantastic new flagship store."
Retail Expansion at Trafford Centre
The new lululemon store arrives amid a boom in fitness retail. The Trafford Centre already houses the world's biggest JD Sports, and other major sports and leisure retailers have expanded, including a new Footasylum. Canadian leisurewear brand Garage is also set to open a store later in the summer.
Summer Fair and SpudBros Pop-Up
The Trafford Centre is preparing for the school summer holidays. From Saturday, July 18, the Summer Fair will return outside The Great Hall, featuring a splash pool and fairground rides. The fair costs £2.75 and runs daily from 12pm to 8pm until the end of August. Additionally, viral jacket potato truck SpudBros will operate a seasonal pop-up outside The Great Hall from July 18 to July 25, also from 12pm to 8pm.
