Liverpool's squad-building under Andoni Iraola continues, with the Reds boss facing key decisions on both incomings and outgoings. The Spaniard has made a promising start in the transfer market with the acquisition of Victor Munoz, and Jeremy Jacquet will join this summer after his £55 million deal was concluded during Arne Slot's tenure.
Yan Diomande Transfer Saga Nears Resolution
RB Leipzig starlet Yan Diomande has attracted significant attention from Liverpool, with the 19-year-old also drawing interest from Paris Saint-Germain. According to German publication Bild, Diomande's agency, Roc Nation, is pressuring RB Leipzig to accept Liverpool's offer of €100 million (£86.7 million) for the attacker. The Bundesliga club rejected the bid, seeking a fee nearer to €120 million (£104.1 million) before agreeing to part with their star player.
Diomande is currently impressing for Ivory Coast at the World Cup and had previously dented Liverpool's hopes by confessing his admiration for PSG. He stated: "Paris Saint-Germain is a team I've loved since I was a child. My father supports Paris Saint-Germain, and it's a team I admire as a football fan. It would be a pleasure for me to come and play at Paris with one of the biggest clubs... Adapting wouldn't be difficult. But why not?"
Cody Gakpo Hints at Displeasure Over Role
Cody Gakpo has faced criticism for his club performances this season but has excelled for the Netherlands at the World Cup, scoring twice and providing an assist in a 5-1 thrashing of Sweden. After the match, Gakpo was questioned about his role for club versus country and suggested a lack of freedom at Liverpool. He replied: "A good question. Obviously it's a little bit different. It's different where the coach wants me to be, the freedom that I have."
The 27-year-old has been confined to the left flank for most of the campaign, with the inside channel occupied by Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz. Under Ronald Koeman, Gakpo has been given the chance to operate closer to goal, and his candid admission may serve as a signal to Iraola regarding his left-wing position, where the Reds boss now has three viable options: Munoz, Rio Ngumoha, and Gakpo himself.
