iPhone Air Buyers Get Rare £1 Upgrade Deal from Sky

Sky Mobile has launched an unusually generous upgrade offer for Apple's slimmest-ever iPhone, the iPhone Air, allowing customers to double the storage for just £1 extra per month. The base 256GB model costs £28 per month, while the 512GB version is available for £29 monthly. A further upgrade to the maximum 1TB storage costs £31 per month. All plans require a £12 upfront payment. At the time of writing, only Space Black and Sky Blue models remain in stock.

Data Plans and Contract Terms

Sky's monthly plans include a modest 100MB data allowance, which may be insufficient for most users. Additional data options range from 3GB for £5 to unlimited data for £20 per month. Contracts run for 36 months, with the opportunity to upgrade after 24 months at no extra cost.

Competing Offers from EE and Amazon

EE's summer sale offers a substantial £866 price reduction on the iPhone Air, along with double storage at no extra charge. The 512GB model is discounted by £218.04, with an £18 monthly discount on the 125GB Essentials plan, bringing the monthly cost to £48.26 (down from £66.26) with £30 upfront. Alternatively, Amazon offers the iPhone Air 256GB for £799, a £200 reduction from its original £999 price.

iPhone Air Features and Design

Launched in September, the iPhone Air is Apple's slimmest model at just 5.6mm thick and weighing 165g. It features a titanium frame, a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display with Ceramic Shield on both sides, and is powered by the A19 Pro chip. The device includes Apple Intelligence, iOS 26, and a 48MP Fusion camera system.

Hands-On Review

Technology Editor Dave Snelling tested the iPhone Air at Apple's California headquarters and described it as "so skinny and light you barely notice it in your pocket." He noted its durability: "Apple's team applies huge amounts of pressure to the middle of the screen... Although it bends, the Air doesn't crack and instantly returns to its normal shape." The 120Hz ProMotion display is "pin-sharp and packed with colour," and the A19 Pro processor offers ample performance for work and play. However, Snelling highlighted a compromise: to maximise internal space, the processor and modem are placed in a bar across the top of the rear, allowing room for only one camera. The 48MP fusion snapper can zoom and take wide-angle shots, plus portrait images and 4K video, but it cannot match the triple-camera system of the iPhone 17 Pro. "If you simply take photos of your pets or kids playing in the park, you probably won't be all that disappointed," he said, "but those who want the ultimate image experience are definitely better off switching to the Pro models."
