Gyrocopter Makes Emergency Landing in Bolton Field

A gyrocopter made an emergency landing in a field off Kilworth Drive in Lostock, Bolton, on Thursday 13 November 2025. Greater Manchester Police responded to reports at approximately 1:25pm, with firefighters and an air ambulance also attending the scene.

The aircraft, initially mistaken for a helicopter, reportedly suffered a propeller strike to its rear rotor mid-flight, causing it to spin. The pilot, a man in his 60s, managed to regain control and perform a forced landing without injury.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service deployed four fire engines and a technical rescue unit. The pilot was uninjured, and air accident investigators are examining the incident.
