Strictly: Shaun Wright-Phillips eliminated as fans pity Jaime

Shaun Wright-Phillips has been eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing after losing the latest dance-off, a result that left viewers feeling sorry for actress Jaime Winstone.

The former England and Manchester City footballer and his partner Alexis Warr found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard with 17 points following their Jive. They were joined in the dance-off by Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu, despite the pair scoring 25 for their foxtrot to Olivia Dean's Man I Need.

Judges' verdict and the deciding vote

The two couples performed their routines again on Sunday's show (October 25) before the judges delivered their final verdict. Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse decided to rescue Jaime and Carlos, while head judge Shirley Ballas chose to keep Shaun and Alexis.

Anton Du Beke, who held the crucial deciding vote this week, opted to save Jaime and Carlos, resulting in Shaun's elimination.

Fans react to the outcome

Viewers were quick to voice their opinions on social media. While many felt it was the right time for Shaun to go, they were baffled to see Jaime in the dance-off.

One person posted: "I feel really bad for Jaime, I would've put two couples below her and Carlos. But I'm SO glad Bethany made it through and I think Shaun going is the right decision."

Another added: "I feel so so sorry for Jamie, she done really well last night! Glad she got saved." Someone else said: "I absolutely love Jaime and Carlos and I thought the Foxtrot was gorgeous, much better than the judges are making out."

One fan agreed: "Their foxtrot was so beautiful. Jaime is so good. It was definitely undermarked."

Triple dance-off twist announced

Saturday's show saw the series' first perfect 10s, with Delta Goodrem receiving the maiden score after recovering from injury. Winter Olympian Tabby Stoecker then secured two 10s for her couple's choice dance to Stupid Song by Olivia Rodrigo, achieving a total score of 37, the highest of the series so far.

Sunday's results programme also featured the unexpected reveal of Strictly's inaugural triple dance-off. The three partnerships with the poorest combined judges' scores and public votes will perform once more next week, before the judges remove one duo as normal. Strictly will subsequently revert to a two-couple dance-off for the remainder of the series.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
