Just days after dropping a major patch, Blizzard has handed Diablo 4 players another major boost. As the Season of Death Awakening continues, devs dropped a hotfix yesterday (Thursday, July 16) that includes the tweaks fans have been praying for.
Mythic Uniques 3.0 Restrictions Removed
Diablo 4’s Season 14 introduced Mythic Uniques 3.0 and changed the game’s system to upgrade any standard Unique item into a Mythic version. However, there were two huge restrictions to this new feature that players complained about. Players could only wear one ‘crafted’ Mythic item at a time and the new end-game boss, the Corrupted Reaper, had low drop rates for Mythics.
But now, Blizzard claims to have solved the issue with a new update. The patch went live for PC players shortly after it was announced by Blizzard, while console players have had to wait until today (Friday, July 17).
Developer Acknowledges Feedback
In a post on the Blizzard forums, Diablo 4 design director for live service, Dan Tanguay, wrote: “We’ve heard your feedback on Season of Death Awakening, including Mythic unique drop rates, equip limits, and more.
“In a patch releasing today, we’re increasing the drop rate for Mythics from the Corrupted Reaper boss fight and removing equip limits for Mythic Uniques. Additionally, in a patch coming next week, we’re adding Superior Lair Keys to the Glints of Hope repeatable cache and increasing the Mythic Tribute drop rates in the Undercity.
“Seasons are where we experiment with new ideas and push Diablo IV in new directions. Not every idea lands exactly as intended, but we’ll continue listening to your feedback, addressing what’s not working, and applying those lessons to future seasonal updates.
“As always, we’ll keep you updated as we have more to share about the future of Mythics!”
Fan Reaction: ‘Season 14 Is Back’
Fans have reacted to the news with delight. One Reddit user posted the news in a new thread titled ‘Season 14 is back - Blizzard is finally hotfixing mythics’.
Another replied: “Finally. And acknowledging that it went south. We can all make mistakes but insisting on them is dumb, they did the right thing.”
A third Redditor added: “Decided to do a few reaper fights to try to craft a mythic. Got a Kessime’s Legacy drop off the second battle. Awesome!”
Another said: “Sweet jebus we might actually be back on track,” while a fifth called the move “amazing”.
