Apple has confirmed that its new AppleCare One subscription service is now available in the United Kingdom, offering protection for up to three devices for a monthly fee of £16.99. The service, which launched in the US last year, covers products such as iPhone, iPad and MacBook against breakage, damage, loss or theft.
How AppleCare One works
Subscribers can add up to three eligible devices to a single plan. Apple promises to fully repair or replace each device up to three times per year. The service includes unlimited repairs for accidental damage, battery replacement, and 24/7 priority access to Apple experts.
Compared with AppleCare+
Existing AppleCare+ plans cover only one device. AppleCare One bundles multiple devices, potentially saving money. Apple says a customer with an iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch could save up to £11.48 per month compared to maintaining separate AppleCare+ plans with theft and loss coverage for each gadget.
Coverage for existing products
Products already owned can be added to AppleCare One as long as they are less than four years old and in good condition. “Eligible products that are up to four years old can be added to a plan, provided they are in good condition, opening up coverage well beyond the current 60-day window to purchase AppleCare+,” Apple said.
Automatic swap on upgrade
When a customer trades in a covered product and buys a new one directly from Apple, the old device is automatically removed from the plan and replaced with the new one.
