Airbus has released a concept video showcasing a major overhaul of its A380 aircraft, the world's biggest passenger plane, featuring a dedicated workout space, a bar, rotating seats, and a personal AI assistant. The redesign, part of Airbus's AIRSPACE interior concept, aims to redefine long-haul travel with quieter cabins, roomier lounges, and upgraded first-class suites on its double-deck planes.
Mid-Air Gym and Bar
The concept video shows passengers performing squats mid-flight as part of a "strength workout" session. A full bar is also available onboard, where passengers can order drinks at any time. Sleeping pods are planned for extra comfort on longer routes.
Interactive Windows and Rotating Seats
The interactive windows double as countdown timers showing remaining flight time and can project films. Some seats rotate to face one another, creating a social space. When turned, the interactive window becomes a widescreen TV that can sync with a passenger's cloud storage for accessing files, work documents, games, or movies.
AI Assistant and Entertainment
Each seat includes an entertainment centre with a personal AI assistant offering comfort tips and allowing food or drink orders at the tap of a button. Wider rows of three seats, ambient ceiling lighting, and roof-mounted screens displaying real-time flight directions and cloud projections are also featured. When cabin lights dim, seatback and ceiling screens switch to a cosmic theme to help passengers sleep.
Expert Collaboration
The concept was developed with cross-industry experts to identify emerging technologies that make flying feel less like a chore and more like an experience, according to Airbus.
