Man United fans turn on Carrick after Como thrashing

Manchester United supporters turned on head coach Michael Carrick after the Red Devils were thrashed 4-1 by Como on Wednesday. The Premier League side were outplayed by Cesc Fabregas' Serie A outfit at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium, with the hosts rampant by the Lake in the Champions League.

The defeat extended United's winless run to seven games in all competitions, leaving them 22nd in the league phase table and 13th in the Premier League standings. Carrick held up both hands in apology to the travelling fans at the full-time whistle, and he now faces further criticism after 'Carrick Out' began trending on X.

Fans Call for Carrick's Departure

United supporters voiced their frustration on social media, with popular yet controversial personality Mark Goldbridge, who fronts The Overlap's 'Stick to United' podcast and 'The United Stand' YouTube channel, simply tweeting: "Sack him tonight".

Another fan wrote that the job was "far beyond" Carrick, who was "out of his depth, doesn't inspire confidence, and clearly can't do anything with this team." Others also pointed fingers at the under-fire manager, with one remarking that there was "no coming back from this", and another labelling the result "embarrassing", adding that if Carrick were not sacked "immediately, [then] this club and the powers that be have no ambition or standards."

Como Dominate Throughout

United were outplayed throughout, with Nico Paz, the former Real Madrid prodigy, running the show. He scored the opener inside two minutes before Anastasios Douvikas doubled the hosts' advantage. Paz added another on 57 minutes, and Jacobo Ramon completed the rout late on. Joshua Zirkzee grabbed a consolation for the visitors, but it was too little, too late on a dark night for Carrick and his injury-hit side.
