Aberdeen are closing in on a move for left-back Nesta Guinness-Walker, who is a free agent after leaving Northampton Town in the summer. Record Sport understands that manager Stephen Robinson has moved for the 26-year-old, with a deal possibly completed in time for him to feature in this weekend's friendly against Linfield.
Robinson's Squad Building Continues
Robinson is keen to have three options for each position, and the signing of Guinness-Walker would address a need at left-back. Emi Gyamfi is currently out injured, so Robinson wants competition for Mitchel Frame. Guinness-Walker came through the youth ranks at Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, played for the Metropolitan Police, and then turned professional with AFC Wimbledon. He later moved on to Reading and spent the last two years at Northampton Town.
Busy Transfer Window for the Dons
Robinson has been exceptionally busy this year, effectively rebuilding the team. He has already signed Tony Yogane, Ayoub Mouloua, Lewis Mayo, Brad Lyons, Dan Happe, Connor Ronan, Toyosi Olusanya, and Alexander Briedl. The move for Guinness-Walker would be his eighth signing of the window. On the outgoing side, Alexander Jensen has been sold to Elfsborg, Marko Lazetic is set to join FC Noah in a six-figure move, and Nicolas Milanovic will return to Western Sydney Wanderers.
Upcoming Fixtures
Aberdeen kick off their Premier Sports Cup campaign away to Brora Rangers next week, and Robinson will hope to have his new signings integrated quickly.
