Fashion brand Quiz has collapsed into administration for the second time in 12 months, while Morrisons Daily is set to close around 100 stores and Lloyds Banking Group has announced dozens of branch closures, collectively putting hundreds of jobs at risk across the UK high street.
Quiz Enters Administration Again
Quiz, the fashion brand, entered administration on February 5, 2026, marking its second collapse in just over a year. The brand previously fell into administration in February 2025 before being immediately acquired by a subsidiary of the founding Ramzan family. This time, however, Quiz is set to cease trading by July 2026. The company has launched a closing-down sale with items priced under £10, and its website states that “all remaining stock must be cleared” and “due to the nature of the sale, all purchases are final.”
According to the administrators, Quiz concessions operating within New Look and Matalan stores in the UK are not included in this administration process and will continue trading as normal.
Quiz Stores Already Closed and Those Still to Close
Quiz has already closed stores in Belfast (Castlecourt Shopping Centre), Leeds, Romford, Aberdeen, Bracknell, Dunfermline, Inverness, Warrington, Hanley, Mansfield, Carlisle, Eastbourne, and Northampton. Stores still set to close include Watford, Clydebank, Irvine, Portsmouth, Castleford, Leicester, Merry Hill, Sheffield, Derby, Newtownabbey, Braehead, Manchester Arndale, Trafford Centre, Stirling, Telford, Lakeside, Norwich, and Newry.
Morrisons Daily to Close Around 100 Stores
Morrisons has announced that approximately 100 of its Morrisons Daily convenience stores will be closing in the coming months. These stores were originally acquired as part of a £190 million rescue deal for McColl’s in 2022. The supermarket stated that the stores had been under ongoing review but had been loss-making for some time despite efforts to boost trading.
Morrisons previously confirmed that seven stores in Yorkshire would close, and has now added at least one branch in Berkshire to the list. The confirmed closures include Moorcroft Road, Woodthorpe, York; Queen Street, Recar; Zetland Road, Loftus; Esk Close, Guisborough; High Street, Stokesley; Fairfax Avenue, Hull; Middle Street, South Driffield; and Crown Wood, Bracknell.
Lloyds Banking Group Confirms Dozens of Branch Closures
Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed another wave of bank branch closures, with dozens of sites set to shut between June and November 2026. The bank noted that more than three-quarters of the affected branches are located within one mile of another Lloyds branch, while 95% have an alternative branch within five miles.
A Lloyds spokesperson told MoneyWeek: “With access to one of the biggest branch networks in the UK, alongside local banking options like our Community Bankers, the Post Office, PayPoint, plus our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service, we offer our customers more choice and convenience than ever before.”
