Boots has cut the price of the Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Eau de Parfum Over Red by more than half as part of its Black Friday sale. The 50ml bottle, which normally retails for £105, is now available for £49, saving shoppers £56.
The perfume is described by Boots as “captivating, unparalleled in provocation, deliberately seductive”. It blends notes of black coffee, orange blossom and vanilla from the original Black Opium with a twist of cherry accord and jasmine flower.
Shoppers have praised the scent, with one saying: “I always get compliments whilst wearing it.” Another reviewer said: “This scent is similar to the regular black opium but the cherry adds a fun twist. I get compliments on it all the time.” A third commented: “This is a perfect perfume for winter.”
Several customers compared the fragrance to Tom Ford Lost Cherry, which costs £290 for 50ml at Boots. One wrote: “Compared to Tom Ford Lost Cherry, it is slightly sweeter and lasts way longer!” Another called it “a sexier version of Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry”.
However, some shoppers had mixed reactions. One found the scent “overpowering and instantly gave me a headache”, while another said they “can’t smell it anymore after 10 minutes”. A third reviewer likened it to “cough medicine”.
