World's first Pink Sriracha lands in UK – hotter than it looks

The world's first Pink Sriracha has arrived in the UK, exclusively at Pho restaurants throughout August. The vibrant condiment gets its colour from hibiscus flower and is made with premium white Thai chillies grown in northern Thailand.

Despite its sweet-looking exterior, the sauce delivers a serious chilli kick. The hibiscus brings an initial fruity note before the heat builds, creating what Pho describes as a “fricy” combination of fruity and spicy flavours.

Daily Star taste test verdict

After putting it to the Daily Star taste test, the team confirmed it isn't all about the colour. The sauce brings a noticeable sweetness before the chilli heat kicks in, making it a surprisingly versatile addition to food. It's not simply a traditional Sriracha that happens to be pink – there is more going on here.

Pink Wednesdays menu

To celebrate the launch, Pho has introduced a £5 “Pink Wednesdays” menu throughout August. The deal is available to anyone wearing pink when they visit a participating Pho restaurant on a Wednesday.

Options include a Spicy Pink Margarita made with tequila, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, dragonfruit and Thai chillies, alongside crispy spring rolls and summer rolls. There are also crispy chicken wings served with Pink Sriracha, plus ice cream and sorbet from Hackney Gelato. Ice cream flavours include honey and ginger or Madagascan vanilla, while sorbet flavours include raspberry, mango, coconut and dark chocolate.

Launch quotes and availability

Libby Andrews, Marketing Director at Pho, said: “Not only does the new SABZU Pink Sriracha look amazing, it is delicious and so fun for summer. We are really excited to be the only place in the UK to serve it for the month of August.”

Dan Pathomvanich, CEO of Bamboomart, said: "We are committed to bringing the authentic taste of Thailand to consumers around the world. Our partnership with Pho marks an exciting milestone for SABZU as we introduce the world's first-ever Pink Sriracha sauce exclusively across the UK."

The Pink Sriracha is available at Pho restaurants nationwide and on Deliveroo until the end of August. The £5 menu excludes Pho's restaurants in Westfield, Stratford and Leeds, while the Scottish menu does not include the Spicy Pink Margarita.
