Wetherspoon's January Sale: 99p Pints & Cheap Food Deals Across 600 UK Pubs
Wetherspoon's January Sale: 99p Pints in 600 Pubs

Pub chain Wetherspoon has launched its highly anticipated January sale, offering punters significant savings on drinks and food across hundreds of its venues nationwide. The promotional event, mirroring the traditional post-Christmas retail sales, commenced on January 2 in England and Wales, and will begin a day later on January 3 in Scotland. The sale is set to run until January 15, giving customers two weeks to take advantage of the budget-friendly offers.

What's on Offer: Drinks Deals

The headline offer is a pint of Worthington’s beer for just 99p. The sale also features a selection of other discounted beverages, including a 250ml glass of Coldwater Creek wine for £2.99. Spirit lovers can enjoy a 25ml measure of Johnnie Walker Black Label or Tanqueray gin, each served with a mixer, for £1.99.

Recognising the growing demand for alternatives, the chain has included a wide array of low and non-alcoholic options in the promotion. These are priced at £1.69 each and include popular brands such as Guinness 0.0, Corona Cero, Brewdog Punk AF, and Stella Artois Alcohol Free. Further deals see Beck’s Blue and Sanpellegrino Aranciata Rossa available for 99p each.

Budget-Friendly Food Options

The discounts extend beyond the bar to the menu, with several meal deals available. Customers can choose between an 11-inch Margherita pizza or a chicken burger served with chips or a side salad. These meals are priced at £4.99 when paired with a soft drink, or £6.52 with an alcoholic beverage.

A choice of six jacket potatoes with various fillings—including tuna mayo, cheese, chilli bean non-carne, and roasted vegetables—is available at the same price points. For an extra 99p, an additional filling or a side salad can be added to any order.

New Gourmet Jacket Potatoes

This year's sale introduces three new gourmet jacket potato options, priced at £6.49 with a soft drink and £8.02 with an alcoholic drink. The 'Loaded' spud is topped with cheese, maple-cured bacon, garlic butter, and sour cream. Vegetarians can opt for the 'Mexican', loaded with chilli bean non-carne, cheese, guacamole, crushed tortilla chips, and coriander. The 'Smoky' potato features pulled BBQ beef brisket, cheese, and smoky chipotle mayo.

Tim Martin, founder and chairman of Wetherspoon, commented on the launch: "Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it is the perfect time to have a sale in the pub too. The range of drinks and food on sale is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes. We have included a large selection of low and non-alcoholic drinks. I believe the January Sale will prove popular with our customers. As always, staff at the pub will serve customers responsibly."

The sale is running in approximately 600 of the company's pubs. Wetherspoon operates around 800 venues in total, and prices at the other 200 locations may vary. The promotion offers a welcome respite for consumers feeling the pinch after the festive period, providing an affordable option for eating and drinking out in the new year.
