Walkers Hot Honey Crisp Flavour Sparks Debate
Walkers Hot Honey Crisp Flavour Sparks Debate

Walkers has launched a new hot honey crisp flavour, which hit shelves on 12 January. The flavour is available in a six-pack for £2.15 at major supermarkets. The release comes as part of the brand's wider rebranding, which includes new packaging and a refreshed logo featuring founder Henry Walker's signature.

Hot honey, a blend of sweet honey and spicy ingredients such as crushed red chilli flakes, has become a popular trend in the food industry. However, early taste tests by the IndyBest team have drawn mixed reactions. While the crisps offer a punch of spice, some found the sweet taste overpowering and desired more salty seasoning.

The new flavour is part of Walkers' 'inspired by flavours of the world' series, which also includes masala chicken and sticky teriyaki. Additionally, the brand has announced changes to its range: from mid-February, the 45 per cent less salt selection will be renamed Walkers Lightly, while Walkers Baked became Oven Baked in December. Two new Oven Baked flavours—slow roasted beef and sun dried tomato & basil—were also introduced earlier this month.

To promote the launch, Walkers has launched a 'Golden Potato' promotion starting 26 January, offering over 500,000 prizes. Shoppers can find golden potato tickets in selected multipacks to win cash prizes or e-vouchers to try the new hot honey flavour.
