Walkers confirms KFC crisp comeback after five-year hiatus

Walkers has confirmed that its collaboration with KFC is officially returning, bringing back two flavours that fans have been craving for five years. The Walkers MAX KFC Original Chicken and Walkers MAX KFC Zinger crisps were discontinued in 2021, sparking a sustained campaign from Brits for their return.

Flavours and availability

The Original Chicken flavour is said to 'perfectly capture' the peppery, salty, and spiced essence of KFC's famous blend of 11 herbs and spices. The Zinger offers a spicy and zesty kick mimicking the 'zing' of a KFC staple. The former will be a permanent addition to the Walkers MAX line-up, while the Zinger crisps are available for a limited time only.

Social media users have long praised the crisps. A Reddit user hailed them 'crack cocaine in crisp form', while a user on X said: 'I would genuinely rank them among one of the best flavours ever.' TikToker @soulfula5 commented: 'These dropped during peak lockdown. Walkers x KFC Zinger was the only collab that mattered. I still think about them.'

Marketing director statement

Wayne Newton, senior marketing director at Walkers, said: 'We knew the nation missed the Walkers MAX KFC collab after its highly successful run in 2021, but we underestimated the sheer scale of the devotion. Luckily, the wait is over, and we're thrilled to officially confirm the rumours: MAX KFC crisps are back. With the Original Chicken flavour here to stay permanently and the Zinger back for a limited time, Walkers MAX is giving the fans what they've been longing for.'

Rollout details

The nationwide rollout begins the week commencing July 20, 2026, landing in all major UK supermarkets, convenience stores, and wholesalers. To celebrate the comeback, both flavours will be available in sharing and price-marked packs, while Walkers MAX KFC Original Chicken will also be available in singles and vending formats.

This announcement follows KFC's recent launch of two new burgers featuring naan bread: the Tandoori Zinger Crispy Naan and the Creamy Original Crispy Naan, both priced at £7.49 each or £9.49 as a meal. The chain also introduced Tandoori Loaded Fries at £3.99. These items are available from July 20 to August 23, 2026.
