A Vinted seller has revealed that sending a friendly message to anyone who favourites an item can boost sales by up to 50 per cent. Nicola, a reseller and self-described expert on the platform, spent several months testing the technique to ensure the results were not down to coincidence or seasonal factors.
She said: 'Conclusively I can say with absolute conviction, that sending a nice non-salesy friendly message to anyone who favourites an item of yours increases your sales. Not only does it increase your sales, it increases sales by 30 to 50 per cent. I am regularly seeing 50 per cent more sales in any given week where I am messaging people that are favouriting.'
Nicola acknowledged the method can feel awkward, adding: 'I know it can be cringey, I am the least salesy person on this planet.' Other users shared their own experiences in the comments, with one saying: 'I always send a message with an offer. It's not pushy at all ... very simple and polite.' Another noted: 'I've had full on conversations about my items and how to style them and it works.'
However, not all reactions were positive. One user reported: 'I've done it a lot but one time I had someone say she doesn't buy off pushy people. I really wasn't being pushy so I blocked her.' Another was sceptical but willing to try: 'This does surprise me because I'm happy getting an offer but hate getting a message but will try it.'
Vinted, the leading second-hand fashion marketplace in Europe, has millions of users worldwide trading pre-loved clothes, accessories and gadgets. Nicola's hack offers a simple, cost-free way for sellers to increase their visibility and sales.
