The study, commissioned by the American Express Shop Small campaign and conducted by GlobalData, identified these standout locations through in-depth analysis. Researchers evaluated factors such as the proportion of independent shops and restaurants, overall vibrancy, and aesthetic appeal, alongside a survey of 2,300 UK adults.

Dan Edelman, General Manager of Merchant Services at American Express, emphasised the crucial role these areas play. 'Small businesses play a vital role in shaping vibrant communities,' he said, 'so it's exciting to see younger shoppers driving this trend with their enthusiasm for distinctive, retro-inspired products and experiences.'
