Tesco's Christmas Toy Drive: Donate by Dec 15 to Help Children
Tesco's Christmas Toy Drive: Act Before Dec 15

Tesco is calling on its customers across the UK to spread some festive cheer by participating in its annual Christmas toy donation appeal. Shoppers have until December 15 to get involved and make a difference in their local community.

How The Tesco Toy Donation Scheme Works

The initiative is simple but powerful. More than 800 major Tesco stores nationwide have set up dedicated donation points where customers can leave new and unwrapped toys, purchased in-store. These gifts are not sent to a central warehouse; instead, they are distributed by a network of community organisations directly to children who might otherwise receive very little or nothing on Christmas morning.

The recipients are carefully chosen by store staff who have built relationships with these groups through year-round community work. For instance, donations made at the Leicester Extra store will be given to Christ the King Church, which supports local families during the festive season.

Pari Thanki, a Store Community Champion, expressed her pride in the scheme, stating: "We are pleased to be able to again support the local community by providing toys to those children who will wake up on Christmas morning with very little."

Charities Benefiting From Your Generosity

The appeal supports a diverse range of vital charities across the country. In Newcastle, the Newcastle Extra store is partnering with Pathways 4 All, a regional charity providing recreational activities for children with special needs and running an annual present appeal for families facing financial hardship.

Store community champion Joanne Cooper commented: "It's such a special way to spread a little Christmas magic and bring the community together. Thanks to the amazing generosity of our customers and colleagues we can help make sure every child connected with Pathways 4 All has a reason to smile this Christmas."

Other notable charities set to receive support from the campaign include:

  • Ty Hafan Children's Hospice, which cares for children with life-limiting illnesses.
  • Amelia's Rainbow, assisting families of disabled children with grants for mobility aids.
  • Caister Community Larder, which supplies food to local families in need.

Donations will also reach numerous children's hospital wards, local food banks, and the Salvation Army.

Aiming To Beat Last Year's Incredible Total

The campaign has a strong track record of success. Last Christmas, Tesco customers donated a staggering 125,000 toys. The retailer has now set an ambitious goal to surpass that figure this year, relying on the continued generosity of its shoppers.

Claire De Silva, Tesco Head of Communities, highlighted the importance of the initiative: "Our stores are committed to supporting local children and their communities year-round, and thanks to the generosity of our customers and colleagues, the annual toy donation campaign is a wonderful way to make a difference at Christmas."

She added that it's particularly rewarding to see individual stores partner with charities in their immediate vicinity, ensuring the festive magic reaches children right on their doorstep.
