Charlie Morgan, the former Swansea City ballboy kicked by Eden Hazard in 2013, is close to agreeing a £500 million deal to sell his drinks brand Au Vodka, 13 years after the incident that made him famous.
From Ballboy to Businessman
Morgan, now 30, co-founded Au Vodka with his friend Jackson Quinn in 2015. The premium vodka label has grown rapidly, with the company previously valued at around £150 million. According to the 2026 Drinks Industry Rich List, Morgan and Quinn each have an estimated net worth of £75 million.
The duo are reportedly close to selling Au Vodka to American drinks giant Sazerac Company, which owns brands such as BuzzBallz and Southern Comfort. Talks have been ongoing for several months, with an agreement believed to be imminent, according to Sky News.
The Deal and Its Impact
If completed, Morgan and Quinn are set to receive payouts of over £100 million each. It remains unclear whether they will retain their roles with the company after the sale.
The brand's success has been driven by social media campaigns and endorsements from celebrities including Floyd Mayweather, Ronaldinho, and rapper Fredo. In 2017, DJ Charlie Sloth bought a 20 per cent stake after being contacted by Morgan and Quinn. In 2023, Jake Paul 'tattooed' an image of the bottle on his body for $250,000, a stunt that later emerged as fake but boosted the brand's visibility. Quinn told the BBC at the time: "Our engagement on that moment was pretty special. We've got 300,000 followers on Instagram at the moment and on that post, in particular, it had 290,000 likes."
