Quiz, Morrisons Daily, Lloyds Branches Close in UK High Street Blow

Fashion brand Quiz has entered administration for the second time in a year, while Morrisons Daily is set to close around 100 stores and Lloyds Banking Group has announced dozens more branch closures, collectively putting hundreds of jobs at risk across the UK.

Quiz enters administration again

Quiz, the fashion retailer known for its occasion wear, filed for administration on February 5, 2026. This marks its second collapse in just over a year, having previously entered administration in February 2025 before being rescued by a subsidiary of the founding Ramzan family. This time, the brand is expected to cease trading by July, with items already heavily discounted in closing-down sales, many priced below £10.

The company’s website states that “all remaining stock must be cleared” and that “due to the nature of the sale, all purchases are final.” However, Quiz Clothing concessions operating within New Look and Matalan stores are not part of the administration and will continue trading as usual.

Morrisons Daily to shut 100 stores

Morrisons has announced that approximately 100 of its Morrisons Daily convenience stores will close in the coming months. The outlets were originally acquired as part of a £190 million rescue package for McColl's in 2022. The supermarket said the stores had been under continuous review but remained unprofitable despite efforts to improve trading.

Seven stores in Yorkshire had already been confirmed for closure, and the company has now added at least one Berkshire branch to the list. Confirmed closures include Moorcroft Road (Woodthorpe, York), Queen Street (Recar), Zetland Road (Loftus), Esk Close (Guisborough), High Street (Stokesley), Fairfax Avenue (Hull), Middle Street (South Driffield), and Crown Wood (Bracknell).
