Primark £6 Heat IQ leggings go viral for winter warmth

Primark's Heat IQ thermal leggings, priced from £6, have gone viral on social media as shoppers praise them as a winter essential for staying warm affordably.

The collection, which is available in stores and via Click and Collect, includes leggings in three warmth levels: 'Warm', 'Extra Warm', and 'Max Warm'. Primark says the range is "made with Heat IQ technology" for "maximum warmth retention".

Why shoppers love them

Online, the leggings are described as a 'winter game-changer', particularly for everyday activities such as working from home, the school run, or cold outdoor walks. Some travellers have reported that the thickest versions perform well during sub-zero holiday trips, such as winter breaks to Lapland.

Content creator Laura Primark Finds shared a post on Facebook about the leggings, including the flare option, which has gained thousands of likes and comments. In the caption, she said: "Primark's viral Heat IQ Leggings?! These have gone absolutely MAD recently, and I've just spotted they now have £8 FLARED and WIDE LEG versions too! Barely any sizes left in my store in the wide leg style!"

Warmth levels and features

The entry-level 'Warm' leggings are thin and lightweight, designed to be worn as a hidden base layer under jeans or work trousers. The 'Extra Warm' version has a brushed-fleece interior, while the 'Max Warm' style features a thick, faux-fur lining to trap body heat. Both the fleece and velvet styles are thick enough to be worn on their own as trousers.

However, some shoppers note that the affordable synthetic fabrics may bobble or pill after several washes, and they are not designed for intense exercise as they do not wick away sweat. Wearing them for heavy hiking or skiing could cause the fabric to hold moisture and make the wearer feel chilly.

Full range and availability

In addition to regular leggings, Primark sells Heat IQ thermal flare leggings, velvet plush tights, fleece tops, a quarter-zip fleece top, a thermal crew-neck top, a base layer top, a jumpsuit, and a high-neck long-sleeve top. The full range is available on the Primark website, but shoppers must visit a physical store or use the Click and Collect service to make a purchase.
