Outback Steakhouse has closed several of its UK locations as part of a broader restructuring by its parent company, Bloomin’ Brands. The closures affect restaurants across the country, though the exact number and locations have not been disclosed.
A Bloomin’ Brands spokesperson confirmed the shutdowns, stating they are “business decisions that are part of our ongoing turnaround plan.” The company cited factors such as sales performance, customer traffic, and the need for investment in certain sites.
Employees affected by the closures have been offered positions at nearby Outback Steakhouse restaurants where possible. The spokesperson added that closing restaurants is never easy and that the decision reflects business needs rather than staff performance.
The UK closures follow a trend in the US, where Bloomin’ Brands shut 41 underperforming restaurants last year, mostly Outback locations. The company operates over 1,450 restaurants globally, including more than 670 Outback Steakhouse outlets in the US.
