Fans of Greggs will soon be able to enjoy a hot sausage roll while refuelling their cars, as plans for a new branch at a Morrisons petrol station in Elland have been submitted. Motor Fuel Group (MFG) has applied to Calderdale Council for planning permission to extend the existing sales building at the Jubilee Way filling station and install two air wash and vac units. The extension would accommodate a Greggs outlet, according to consultants Carney Sweeney, acting on behalf of MFG.
Plans to Upgrade Facilities
In a supporting letter, the consultants stated: "As part of MFG's proposals to upgrade facilities across their portfolio of Morrisons petrol filling stations, they are also taking the opportunity to propose an extension to the existing kiosk/shop, to provide an improved offer to visiting motorists. The proposed extension to the east of the existing sales building will accommodate a Greggs." The letter emphasized that while selling fuel remains the priority, road users expect more, and Greggs is proposed to meet customer demand, as reported by the Telegraph & Argus.
Meeting Customer Demand
The consultants added: "The proposed Greggs is complementary to the main fuel offer, and they help support one another in terms of overall revenue generation whilst also meeting the needs and expectations of road users." This move follows the opening of a new Greggs shop in May at the forecourt of the Morrisons fuel station on Pomphlett Road, Plymouth, which recently underwent a revamp with updated car cleaning facilities.
Franchise Partnership
A spokesperson for Greggs confirmed: "Greggs has opened a new shop in Plymouth on Thursday, operated by our franchise partner, MFG. We look forward to welcoming Greggs fans and new customers to come try our range of tasty bakes, hot drinks and sweet treats." The Elland proposal is part of a broader strategy by MFG to enhance its network of Morrisons petrol stations across the UK.
