Martin Lewis' MoneySavingExpert (MSE) has issued advice for Amazon shoppers ahead of Prime Day, urging customers to compare prices across retailers to secure the best deals. The annual sale event returns next week, running from June 23 to June 26, and is open exclusively to Amazon Prime members.
How to Find the Best Deals
MSE highlighted that while Prime Day offers discounts on numerous leading brands, Amazon is not always the cheapest option even during promotional events. The team recommended using price comparison tools such as Google Shopping and Price Spy to find the lowest online price on the day of purchase.
Shoppers are also advised to watch for price-matching from other retailers. MSE noted that stores like AO.com, Argos, Currys, John Lewis, and Joybuy may offer free extras, such as longer guarantees on certain products, making them competitive alternatives.
What to Expect During Prime Day
Amazon Prime Day is one of the biggest shopping events of the year, featuring a rotating selection of offers across four days. The event begins at midnight on June 23 and ends at 11:59pm on June 26. Last year, the event took place in July and included discounts on summer essentials, beauty products, and technology.
Customers can register at any point during the event to gain immediate access to deals. Amazon has already introduced early Prime Day deals on popular items like Ring doorbells and Apple AirPods.
Prime Membership Offers
Amazon Prime membership typically costs £8.99 per month, but Amazon is currently offering a free 30-day trial for new customers. Additionally, students and customers aged 18 to 24 can get six months of Prime membership for free, followed by a 50% discount.
Prime membership includes benefits such as access to Amazon Prime TV and next-day delivery on eligible orders. Amazon notes that after the free trial or membership period ends, automatic charges will apply for the next membership period.
