Bread Spread Ltd, a supplier of sandwiches and on-the-go foods to universities, colleges, hospitals, and over 1,000 independent retailers in England, has issued an urgent recall for all its chicken-containing products. The recall is a precautionary step after Listeria monocytogenes bacteria were found in the chicken filling.
The affected products include sandwiches, wraps, rolls, and baguettes with chicken, chicken salad, or chicken and bacon, with use-by dates of July 31, August 1, and August 2, 2020. The company is urging customers not to eat these items and to return them to the store for a full refund.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) warns that listeriosis, caused by Listeria, can lead to flu-like symptoms such as high temperature, muscle aches, chills, nausea, and diarrhoea. Those over 65, pregnant women, babies under one month, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable.
Customers can also contact Bread Spread Ltd on 07792254298 or email breadspread2501@gmail.com for a refund. The recall applies only to products sold in England.
