M&S is bringing back four retro St Michael chocolate bars from the 1980s, returning to shelves next week after nearly 30 years. The bars will be available as full-sized bars and in a variety pack of mini bars.
Flavours and Nostalgia
The four flavours are Jet (milk chocolate with soft nougat, peanut and caramel), Now (milk chocolate with biscuit and caramel), Sparks (milk chocolate with soft nougat and caramel), and Coconut Grove (milk chocolate with soft coconut centre). Each bar will be wrapped in nostalgic St Michael packaging.
An M&S spokesman said: “M&S Food is bringing back four retro chocolate bars from the St Michael archives. Each bar, wrapped in nostalgic St Michael packaging, offers its own distinctive flavour and texture. Originally part of our 1980s confectionery range, Jet, Sparks, Now! and Coconut Grove will return to Foodhalls next week, giving customers the chance to rediscover much-loved favourites from the era.”
Customer Excitement
One excited customer said: “I can’t wait to relive my youth all over again. These bars will be enjoyed by a whole new generation of fans.”
Previous Reintroduction and St Michael History
This comes four months after M&S reintroduced the St Michael Take 4 bar, which is wafers layered with cocoa paste and coated in milk chocolate, sold in its original packaging. The St Michael brand was first introduced in 1927 and became an exclusive supplier to M&S. By 1950 and for the next fifty years, almost all goods sold by Marks & Spencer used the St Michael brand. M&S officially phased out and stopped using the St Michael brand name on its products in the year 2000, retiring it as part of a major rebranding and restructuring effort, replaced by newer M&S sub-brands.
New Store Opening
M&S opened its biggest ever standalone food store in Godalming, Surrey, this week, part of the company’s attempt to modernise its estate and make M&S more relevant for families doing weekly food shops.
