M&S £12 Big Daddy Advent Calendar Review: One Major Flaw
M&S Big Daddy Advent Calendar Review: One Major Flaw

Food critic Big Daddy B has reviewed Marks & Spencer's £12 Big Daddy Advent Calendar, awarding it 7/10 due to a lack of variety, despite praising the chocolate as "pretty damn good."

The Big Daddy range, known for oversized, decadent sweet treats designed for sharing, expanded into the festive market with this calendar. It contains 12 mini Big Daddy Peanut Bites and 12 mini Big Daddy Pistachio Bites, with a full-sized Little Big Daddy Peanut Bar behind door 25 as a final Christmas morning treat.

Reviewer's Verdict on Variety

In a reel shared with his 274,000 followers, Big Daddy B explained his main criticism. He said: "Behind each door, you get a little Big Daddy chocolate. Only two flavours on offer, which I think is a shame as there's not much variety there at all."

He acknowledged the bonus on day 25, stating: "You do get a special one on day 25, so a decent bonus there, and it's a Big Daddy peanut bar."

Overall Impression and Public Reaction

Summarising his thoughts, he said: "Overall, I think it's a decent calendar, but unfortunately for me, it did lack variety and I really don't enjoy calendars where you only get the same thing every single day or in this case, two different things."

The review post attracted over 2,000 likes, with many commenters agreeing. One wrote: "I'm with you on this as I like variety in advent calendars. I saw this in M&S and once I found out only 2 bars I was disappointed. Great review as usual!" Another added: "They deffo missed a trick there, min of four flavours required. They failed on your name sake I am afraid." A third commented: "Charging £12 for 2 different chocs is ridiculous."

However, some were not put off, with one person admitting they "needed" the calendar, while another said: "I love these chocolates."
