McDonald's is making a significant change to its UK menu, ending its long-running Wrap of the Day deal after 15 years. The fast-food chain will remove the £2.49 offer from restaurant menus starting July 14, making it available only through the McDonald's app under a new promotion called "Get Any Wrap in the App."
Details of the Change
From July 14, customers ordering at tills or kiosks will have to pay full menu prices for wraps, ranging from £4.49 to £5.79. The app-only deal, running daily from 11am to 11pm, allows one redemption per day. Unlike the previous offer, which featured a different wrap each day, diners can now choose any wrap for the same price.
Customer Reaction
The move has sparked disappointment among some customers online. One Reddit user wrote: "BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT," while another said: "Well, it was the only reason I went to McDonald's so....." The backlash highlights the attachment fans had to the in-store deal.
McDonald's Statement
A McDonald's spokesperson said: "From July 14, our new 'Get Any Wrap in the App' offer will enable customers to redeem any wrap for £2.49, any day of the week, on the McDonald's App." They added that the change would give customers "more flexibility to choose their favourite wrap on any day they'd like it."
Recent Changes
This change comes just weeks after McDonald's modified its Food for Thoughts survey promotion, which previously offered a burger-and-fries meal for £2.99 but now provides free items only when customers spend £5. The chain continues to adjust its promotions in response to evolving business strategies.
