Maison Cafe has officially opened at Manchester's Corn Exchange, taking over the unit formerly occupied by the beloved Italian restaurant Salvi's. The new cafe, which has built a loyal following in Liverpool, promises to bring 'plenty of Parisian flair' and dozens of speciality matcha flavours to the city centre.
From Salvi's to Maison
Salvi's announced at the end of last month that its original site would be closing. The restaurant was founded in 2010 by Maurizio Cecco and was one of the original inhabitants of the then Triangle shopping centre when it opened a year later, before the Grade II-listed building took back its original name in 2013.
Now, the new occupants of the unit have been confirmed. The Corn Exchange site is the second location for the brand after establishing itself on Bold Street in Liverpool.
Parisian flair in Manchester

Menu and speciality matchas
Maison Cafe has taken up residence in Unit 1 Corn Exchange, a prime location facing Selfridges and the Exchange Square tram stop. The fully halal menu will include a variety of desserts, brunch and lunch options, including freshly baked Viennoiserie pastries supplied by Mancunian bakery Half Dozen Other, alongside coffee from Allpress Espresso and lunch classics such as sandwiches, steak, and stone-baked pizzas.
The cafe is especially well known for its huge variety of speciality matchas. Matcha fans will be able to sample from the ceremonial-grade menu, featuring flavours including orange blossom, ube, blueberry, strawberry, and even a creme brûlée iced matcha with a top layer that can be cracked open.
