Lidl is set to launch a new affordable table lamp in its more than 1,000 UK stores this week, offering shoppers a budget-friendly lighting option as the Ofgem price cap rise pushes household energy bills higher.
The LIVARNO LED Table Lamp, available in black or white, will be priced at £7.99 from Thursday, October 22. A typical LED light bulb costs between 0.11p and 0.26p per hour to run.
Design and Availability
Described as "contemporary" and "elegant," the lamp features a hand blown-style design that suits living rooms, dining areas, bedrooms, and kitchens. It is exclusively available in stores, so online delivery is not an option. Shoppers can check stock levels at their nearest branch using the online store finder by entering their postcode.
Further details are available on the Lidl website, which also lists similar products and the supermarket's full online catalogue, including its groceries.
Comparison with B&Q's Alternative
The lamp is positioned as a budget-friendly alternative to pricier options elsewhere. B&Q, for instance, sells the Nordlux Milford Glass Table Lamp for £47.95, nearly six times the cost of Lidl's version.
According to the B&Q product description, "Milford is a decorative series, where the opal white glass lends a very particular expression to the series. The combination of the organic forms and the grooved, transparent surface creates elegance and illuminates the room with a soft and warm light."
The description adds, "The beautiful opening in the lampshade gives the Milford table lamp an extra dimension in the design, where the use of a decorative bulb makes the table lamp even more gorgeous. The glass in this lamp is mouth-blown and has been individually hand crafted."
Purchase Options Differ
A key distinction between the two products is how customers can purchase them. B&Q offers home delivery and complimentary Click + Collect, with standard delivery priced at £6 or free on orders exceeding £100, while delivery for larger products costs £15 or is free on orders over £500.
