Shoppers React to Lidl's Sold-Out Air Conditioner
Lidl's Tronic 3-in-1 Air Conditioner, priced at £149, sold out within minutes in many UK stores on June 25, 2026. Shoppers who managed to buy the unit have shared their honest verdicts, calling it a lifesaver during the heatwave but noting some drawbacks.
Positive Reviews: 'Best Lidl Purchase Ever'
One customer who owned the same model for three years said: 'It can get a medium sized room cool within about 10 minutes. Currently maintaining my sanity in the living room, and arguably one of the best Lidl purchases I've ever made.' They warned to ensure the vent hose is not disconnected, as the room can quickly become hot again.
A mother of a four-month-old baby described the device as 'worth its weight in gold.' She said: 'I bought one a couple of weeks ago... and this machine has saved us this week with the mid 30s.'
Another happy customer from Germany noted: 'It really can only keep one room mostly cool which is to be expected. However it lowers the humidity in the whole apartment which helps a lot.'
Drawbacks: Noise and Ventilation Issues
Some shoppers pointed out the unit's noise level. The same customer added: 'It is pretty loud, even on the sleep mode, which I would say is the main drawback to it. It's a blowing hum like a large fan and we have gotten used to it.'
Another buyer who converted the single-hose unit to dual-hose said: 'The main issue with these single-hose portable air conditioners is that they create negative pressure inside the room, which constantly draws warm air in from outside. I converted mine to a dual-hose setup, and it performs noticeably better now.'
A fourth shopper found it 'amazing for a small room' but noted 'little hassle setting up window vent but once done it’s worth its money.'
Lidl's Product Claims
Lidl stated: 'Featuring three operating modes - air conditioning, fan cooling and dehumidifying - it delivers powerful performance to suit a range of needs. Complete with two fan speeds and transport wheels, the air conditioner will bring a breath of fresh air to any room.' The supermarket sold the unit for £149, undercutting similar models priced over £200 elsewhere.
