Lidl is launching a new Felt Storage Basket for £4.99 in all its stores nationwide on Thursday, October 22, while stocks last. The basket, available in a range of colours, is designed to help shoppers tidy away clothes, blankets, ornaments, documents and other household essentials.
Measuring 36 x 25 x 20cm, the basket offers generous storage while remaining compact enough for wardrobes, drawers, shelves or desks. Its felt material provides a lightweight, soft-touch alternative to traditional rigid plastic or woven baskets.
In-Store Only Availability
Shoppers hoping for home delivery will be disappointed, as the basket is only available to buy in store. To avoid a wasted trip, customers can check availability at their nearest Lidl by entering their postcode into the online store finder before heading out.
More details are available on the Lidl website, where shoppers can also browse the full collection spanning sport, fitness, home, garden and groceries.
Comparison with B&Q's Pricier Alternative
The Lidl basket is positioned as a cheap alternative to a similar product at B&Q, which sells for £20.59 - more than four times the cost of Lidl's version. The Wham Studio 30cm Rectangular Plastic Trough, sold as a set of four, is marketed as a planter but could easily double as storage.
Unlike Lidl's offering, B&Q customers can arrange home delivery and Click & Collect. The B&Q product description reads: "Give your plants a stylish upgrade with these sleek studio pot covers. Designed to hide unsightly nursery pots, they instantly refresh your greenery without the need for replanting."
"Lightweight yet strong, they're simple to move while still tough enough for everyday use. With a modern, minimalist design, these covers look just as good indoors as they do outdoors," the description continues. "A fuss-free way to elevate your plants, they're also frost-resistant, keeping their smart appearance season after season wherever you place them."
