John Lewis Beauty Advent Calendar 2025: The Best for Mature Skin, Says IndyBest

John Lewis has unveiled its 2025 beauty advent calendar, and early reviews suggest it could be the retailer's most impressive yet. Priced at £235, the calendar contains 36 products—23 of them full-sized—with a combined value exceeding £1,000. That makes it slightly cheaper than rival luxury calendars from Harrods and Selfridges, both priced at £250.

Sabine Wiesel, a beauty journalist specialising in mature and anti-ageing skincare, gave the calendar an early unboxing for IndyBest. She noted that the selection is particularly suited to those aged 35 and over, with a focus on rejuvenating anti-ageing creams, pampering body care, hair products, and luxury fragrances. 'This is put together with mature skin in mind,' she said.

Skincare highlights include a 15ml Elemis pro-collagen marine cream, which Wiesel has previously ranked as one of the best anti-ageing day creams, and a full-size Medik8 advanced night restore rejuvenating multi-ceramide night cream worth £60. The calendar also features three eye creams, including a full-size Clinique all about eyes rich and a Shiseido vital perfection express eye mask valued at £72.

Make-up offerings are equally generous, with a full-size Chantecaille faux cils longest lash mascara (£68) and a Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood vixen matte revolution lipstick among the highlights. The calendar also includes products from brands such as Elizabeth Arden, Le Labo, Laneige, and Trinny London. Wiesel praised the balanced mix of skincare, body, hair, fragrance, and make-up, noting that it avoids the heavy skew towards one category seen in some competitors' calendars.

The John Lewis beauty advent calendar goes on sale later this year, and given its track record of sellouts, early purchase is recommended. IndyBest's full review is available on The Independent's website.
