Home Bargains has marked its 50th anniversary by temporarily reverting the signage at its Bold Street branch to the company's original name, 'Home & Bargain'. This nostalgic change brings back the classic branding that first appeared when the shop opened in 1976.
Origins and Growth
The company was originally established in Old Swan by Tom Morris when he was just 21. At that time, the first store operated with modest weekly takings of less than £100. While the business began as Home and Bargain, it officially adopted the name Home Bargains in 1995. The brand has since expanded to operate more than 600 stores across the United Kingdom.
50th Anniversary Celebration
This temporary rebranding is part of a larger celebration to commemorate the company’s five decades of service in the retail sector. The business is currently estimated to be worth approximately £8.06 billion. A company spokesperson expressed deep gratitude for the support received from both colleagues and customers over the last half-century. They emphasized the success of the retail empire has been built entirely on the dedication of the people who wear the company badge.
Core Values Remain
Despite the significant growth and evolution of the business over the last 50 years, the core values remain unchanged. The company continues to focus on offering customers high-quality products at outstanding value. Many Scousers have long continued to refer to the chain by its original name regardless of the official branding. This deep-rooted connection highlights the special place the brand holds within local communities.
Future Plans
Looking toward the future, the company has ambitious plans to continue investing in its staff and supporting local communities. The team expressed excitement about what the next 50 years will bring for the expanding retail business.
