Home Bargains has issued a product recall notice for selected lines of beer following concerns over a possible rodent contamination at a brewery. The recall alert has been shared by TJ Morris Brewing after signs warned of potential rodent contamination at the drinks manufacturing facility.
A recall notice was seen by the ECHO at a Home Bargains store on Aigburth Road today, Tuesday October 20. Customers are urged to check whether products they have purchased are affected and to not drink any affected products.
Affected Beer Varieties and Best Before Dates
The recall affects 5-litre kegs across five beer varieties with the following best before dates:
- Higsons Bitter Ale: Best Before dates up to and including 11/02/2027
- Love Lane Baltic Lager: Best Before dates up to and including 04/02/2027
- Love Lane Pale Ale: Best Before dates up to and including 05/03/2027
- Love Lane Session IPA: Best Before dates up to and including 28/12/2026
- Love Lane New England IPA: Best Before dates up to and including 22/11/2026
Affected kegs can be returned to any local Home Bargains store for a full refund and the retailer's customer support can be contacted for further information.
Separate Recall for Micellar Cleansing Water
Separately, Unilever UK has issued a recall for select batches of Simple Kind to Skin Micellar Cleansing Water (730ml) which are sold at Home Bargains. Testing identified potential bacterial contamination in certain units, which could cause eye inflammation for some users.
Affected product details:
- Product: Simple Kind to Skin Micellar Cleansing Water (730ml)
- Barcode: 8720181894381
- Batch Codes: 613841 and 613941
Customers should check the bottom of the bottle to locate the batch code. If your product matches the recalled numbers, stop using it immediately. You can return it to your nearest Home Bargains store for a full refund, or contact Unilever Consumer Care directly for guidance.
