Shoppers are clearing shelves at Home Bargains after the discount store released a near-identical version of the viral Starbucks bear cup for just 99p, a fraction of the £28 original.
The Starbucks Craze
The limited-edition Starbucks bear cup, a clear glass tumbler shaped like a teddy bear, became an internet sensation when it launched in January. Fans queued outside stores early in the morning, with some branches receiving only a handful of units. A one-per-person rule was enforced to manage demand, but the cup sold out on its release day, leaving many disappointed.
Home Bargains' Solution
Now, Home Bargains is offering a similar-looking cup for 99p. TikTok user @D.txx0 shared a video showing the display, sparking a rush. The cup is also available online but is currently sold out, with shoppers able to sign up for email alerts for restocks.
The Home Bargains version, described as a "Bear-Shaped Tumbler with Straw," is made from BPA-free plastic instead of glass and lacks the Starbucks branding on its beanie hat. Some differences in the bear's face, such as wider-set eyes, are also noticeable.
Shopper Reactions
Online reactions have been mixed. One shopper exclaimed, "Driving now to all of the Home Bargains near me! I need this!" Another said, "Much cheaper and better for the kids because it's not glass." A third added, "It looks so cute, and for only £1!" However, some were skeptical: "Is this real? Went to Home Bargains today and didn't find any?" Another asked, "Is this deffo in the UK? I've been to three different Home Bargains and nothing there!"
