Amazon has reduced the price of the Hive Thermostat for Combi Boilers & Multizone Heating Systems by 12%, bringing the cost down from £119 to £104.96. The smart thermostat allows users to control their home heating remotely through the Hive App, which includes features such as Holiday Mode for managing temperatures while away.
How the Hive Thermostat Works
The device is designed specifically for combi-boiler heating systems, providing fine-tuned control over the home's temperature through an included thermostat dial. According to Hive, this could reduce gas consumption by as much as 12%. When paired with the Hive App, users gain access to different heating modes, including Holiday Mode, which enables remote control—useful for keeping pets comfortable when out of the house.
The thermostat can be wired to the boiler, and it comes with pre-set modes for added convenience. Shoppers have praised its ease of installation and use, with one customer noting they connected it within 10 minutes after reading the wiring diagram.
Customer Reviews Highlight Benefits and Drawbacks
Reviews for the Hive Thermostat are largely positive. One customer wrote: "Bought this for my 80 year old dad when his old thermostat gave up. Was a little worried how he would work it as he is not tech savvy at all. But once installed just told him to set the temp he wants and turn it up by knob if he wants it higher or lower. Explained that one side shows actual temp and the other is temp it will reach heating to. Well worth the money and easy to use."
Another added: "Have installed a complete HIVE System with 4 different heating zones & HW, love the app and have several smart plugs also - great platform !!" A third said: "Very easy to fit providing you read the wiring diagram installed and connected within 10 minutes. control is easy from the app."
A fourth added: "Easy to use and the preprogrammed schedule is easy to amend. Our heating now never goes over 19.5 and it’s warm enough." While a fifth said: "Saves my legs going up and down stairs to knock heating on and off excellent." A sixth added: "Really good! But I would recommend set up in the hallway rather than kitchen."
Some Customers Report Installation Challenges
However, not all feedback was positive. One less pleased customer wrote: "Great control of the heating. Just be aware you won’t be able to attach to the hive app, you need a hub as well if you want to control your heating by your phone." Another added: "I sent this back after I found i would have to call someone to install it and they said they would insist on getting the hive thermostat so I had the correct one. Its not easy to install part of it needs wiring to the boiler."
