Lidl shoppers have been left astonished after spotting what appears to be a 'dog playing piano' hidden in the supermarket's iconic blue, yellow and red logo. The discovery, which has gone viral on TikTok, has sparked a debate among customers who now claim they 'can't unsee' the creature.
The logo, which features the company name in dark blue font with a distinctive red 'i' inside a yellow circle with a red border, has been interpreted by some as depicting a dog. According to a popular TikTok video, the red 'i' resembles a dog with its head as the dot and its front paws as the left-hand serif touching the 'L', which is seen as the piano.
Richard Lau, president of LOGO.com, noted that while some logos intentionally incorporate hidden elements, such as the FedEx arrow, this appears to be an unintentional perception by customers. The video's creator wrote: 'Someone told me the Lidl sign looks like a dog playing piano [and] I'll never unsee it.'
Social media users have been quick to share their thoughts, with many agreeing. One commented: 'Took a few minutes but found the dog playing piano.' Another said: 'The dog's the red bit and the L is the piano.' However, not everyone is convinced. Supermarket rival Aldi quipped: 'We can only see it when our eyes are completely closed,' while another shopper insisted: 'I'll never see it.'
