A vending machine selling bouquets of fresh flowers has cropped up in Glasgow. It marks the third location for the quirky venture that was launched by a Scottish florist.
Bloom Box expands to Silverburn
Bloom Box has grown its network by opening in the busy Silverburn shopping centre. Located on level 0 of the multi-storey car park, it provides shoppers with access to fresh, handpicked bunches of flowers without the need to visit a shop. The machine is available 24 hours a day throughout the week.
The concept was created by Edinburgh's Kayleigh McAllister, the award-winning businesswoman behind Penelope Fleur by KDM. The florist boutique is known for "its beautiful floral designs, wedding floristry and corporate installation." First launched in 2021, the business has become one of the most sought-after floral boutiques in the capital.
Scotland's first 24/7 flower vending machine
As Scotland's first ever 24/7 flower vending machine, Bloom Box quickly became a sensation when it initially launched in Edinburgh's St James Quarter in May. According to the brand's Instagram page, it needed regular restocks due to selling out. It then opened another machine in Edinburgh at the Gyle Shopping Centre, its second location until the Silverburn launch at the end of last week.
The brand announced the concept was designed to "change the future of floristry." With floral bouquets usually only available during shop opening hours, the vending machine provides "access to premium, florist-crafted bouquets 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." The brand has claimed it is "on track to become the UK's largest flower vending machine network" and plans to expand further, though it does not intend to replace florists.
Silverburn's recent additions
The Bloom Box concept is the latest addition to Silverburn, which has welcomed a host of new brands, earning it the 'Retail Destination of the Year' title at the 2025 Sceptre Awards. Upcoming openings include Sephora, due on August 13, marking its second Scottish store. Space NK also recently opened, its second in Glasgow. Meanwhile, the trendy salad bar Sprigg expanded into the West End with a new location on Byres Road.
In Aberdeen, a Michelin-awarded team is set to open Mezzo, a Mediterranean-style diner and bar at 155 Union Street, created by Kevin Dalgleish of Amuse restaurant.
