England remain third favourites to win the World Cup despite a goalless draw against Ghana, with bookmakers Coral pricing them at 11-2 to lift the trophy. Only France (7-2) and Spain (5-1) are considered more likely to win.
Match summary
The Three Lions followed up their thrilling 4-2 opening victory over Croatia with a 0-0 stalemate against the tough tackling West Africans in Boston. Thomas Tuchel's team will still top Group L if they beat Panama in their final match on Saturday.
Captain Harry Kane was well-backed to score, but England failed to find the net, much to the relief of bookmakers who avoided a massive payout. David Stevens of Coral said: "After the thrilling 4-2 opening win against Croatia patriotic punters expected more of the same against Ghana. But Harry Kane and Co were unable to find the net in Boston, much to our relief."
Group standings and knockout stage
The point means England have qualified for the knockout stage but must beat Panama on Saturday to ensure they finish as group winners. In the other Group L fixture, Panama suffered a narrow defeat to Croatia and were eliminated from the World Cup. Luka Modric reached his 200th international appearance during that encounter.
Golden Boot race
Kane is fourth favourite to finish as top scorer, behind Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland.
On-field incident
The scoreless affair witnessed Jude Bellingham and former Manchester United assistant Carlos Queiroz engage in a heated exchange at half-time after the Real Madrid star appeared to confront a Ghana player. Both sets of players rushed in as the spat was separated.
Following the match, Bellingham appeared dejected when presented with the Superior Player of the Match award, insisting he was undeserving and that one of Ghana's players merited the recognition instead.
