La Chouquette, the award-winning bakery in Didsbury, has reopened following a major transformation. The bakery, which first opened during lockdown in December 2020, has expanded into the next unit, giving more space for its baked goods.
Complete Refit and New Layout
The configuration of the bakery has totally changed, with a wider counter space now facing customers as they enter on the right-hand side of the shop. The new look features mosaic floors with tiles etched with the bakery's name, midnight blue interiors, brass fixtures, and wooden shelves. Outside, cabinet-style shopfront windows have been customised with photos of the family, coffee and jams for sale, and a mini model of La Chouquette with its iconic blue frontage.
Catrina Deignan, who opened the bakery with Florent Verove, said: "We've been around six years now and it's stood the test of time. There's been a lot of customers come in and out, and we just thought it needed a refresh. Our customers have been so loyal, so I feel like it's a treat to them as well."
New Products and Customer Favourites
The design is the main focus, but they've also introduced new products, including a truffle croque monsieur, which is croissant dough shaped like a finger. On the savoury side, there are sausage rolls, quiches, and hot dog pastries, many of which can be shared. Freshly baked breads are on display, including wholemeal sourdough, ciabatta, French baguettes, and Pain de Campagne.
Customers will still find their almond and pistachio-filled croissants, Pain au chocolat, cinnamon buns, and apple turnovers. Shelves are also lined with golden-hued madeleines, financiers, canelés, and plenty of desserts.
Reopening and Opening Hours
La Chouquette reopened on August 13. It is open seven days a week, from 7am until 5pm, at 812a Wilmslow Rd, Didsbury, Manchester M20 6UH.
