Joey Essex will return to the boxing ring this weekend, headlining Misfits Boxing's Saturday fight night at the Copper Box Arena in London. The 36-year-old reality TV star faces Dapper Laughs, also known as Daniel O'Reilly, in the main event, with ring walks scheduled for around 10.30pm.
Essex first rose to fame on The Only Way is Essex in 2011 and has since become a staple of British TV, appearing on Love Island, Dancing on Ice and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. Boxing is his newest business venture under the Misfits Boxing banner.
Joey Essex's Net Worth
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Essex is estimated to have a fortune of around £7.5million ($10m). This wealth has been accumulated mostly from his TV appearances, including a fourth-place finish on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2013.
Essex also released his own products, including D'Reem Hair - named after his iconic catchphrase of calling attractive people 'reem' - and unisex fragrances. His wealth is further boosted by brand endorsements with McDonald's, Boohoo, Sports Direct and Foxy Bingo.
Rollercoaster Romances and Failed Engagement
Essex's most talked-about relationship is arguably his chaotic time spent with TOWIE co-star Sam Faiers. The pair began dating in 2010, splitting one year later before reconciling and getting engaged in 2012.
They broke up again the following year before Faiers admitted she quit the reality show to save her relationship with Essex. She told the Mirror in 2014: "It was Joey or the show and I chose Joey. I’ve spent time apart from him and I’ve spent time really ill. I realise now what is important and that’s health, happiness and my love for him. It was hard to leave TOWIE but I’m not risking those things any more."
When the relationship resumed at the beginning of 2014, there was hope that the couple would last. However, they broke up again in September and Essex subsequently dated multiple other famous faces.
These included Miss Amy Willerton, who he met on the set of I'm a Celebrity. Short flings with Charlotte Stuchfield, Stephanie Pratt and Georgie Purves followed before he dated Love Island star Ellie Brown.
Essex met Lorena Medina on MTV show Ex on the Beach in 2019 and they began a relationship. However, they split months later after the TOWIE star was spotted returning from a night out with pop star Rita Ora. He also dated Dancing on Ice partner Vanessa Bauer after they finished second on the ITV show.
