Designers Guild closes after 50 years as King's Road store shuts

Designers Guild, the luxury British homeware brand, has entered administration and will close its King's Road store in London and its website after more than 50 years of trading.

Financial difficulties lead to closure

The company, founded in 1970 by Tricia Guild, was celebrated for its luxury products, including fabrics and wall coverings. Its designs were favoured by celebrities including Mick Jagger and Joan Collins, and were reportedly also loved by the Royal Family.

Tricia Guild and her brother and CEO Simon Jeffries said: "Designers Guild Ltd has been so much more than a business to me. It is my passion and my life's work."

Legacy and memories

They added: "The brand was built over decades with an unswerving belief in the power of creative design and a constant striving to achieve only the very best."

"Together we created and developed the idea of lifestyle, year after year seeking to bring into existence the most beautiful designs possible."

"While we are closing the business, we hope the many positive and happy memories will be the ones that stay with us."

They also highlighted the brand's achievements, including the opening of showrooms in Paris, Munich and Stockholm, and the gradual growth and development of the King's Road store.

"Above all, I am proud of the lasting legacy that Designers Guild Ltd leaves in homes around the world," they said.
