Cardiff street food spot offers free kids' meals this summer

Platform, a curated street-food village at Cardiff Bay railway station, is offering a 'Kids Eat Free' deal this summer, allowing children aged 12 and under to enjoy a free kid's meal from participating traders when a full-priced adult main is purchased from the same trader. The offer includes The Dough Thrower, Shark Bite Burgers, The Italian Job, and Llanfaes Dairy.

Opening and Setting

Platform opened its doors on Wednesday, April 1, and has become a must-visit spot in Cardiff Bay. The container village is decked out with hipster-chic wooden tables in muted peach, cream, and denim blue, offering a suave setting for street food. Inside, there's a mix of four-person tables and longer bench-style tables, ideal for groups. Outside, wooden tables shaded by umbrellas provide a spot for a spritz on a sun-drenched afternoon.

Participating Traders

The Dough Thrower offers award-winning, wood-fired pizzas with bases fermented for a full 72 hours. Their menu fuses classic Italian technique with Welsh ingredients and global flair, including the classic Margherita and Los Pollos Americanos with smoked pulled chicken and NYC pepperoni. For kids, dough sticks and dip are included in the deal.

Sharkbite burgers from Cwmbran, named best in Wales by Uber Eats in 2025, are also participating. Founded by Mark and Tash, Sharkbite has been serving smash burgers since 2021, with options like the Megalodon, Great White, and Goblin Shark. For kids, there is the Pup's Cheeseburger.

The Italian Job offers creative dishes like Remy's Le Mac Bite, beef bolognese arancini balls, and the 'Cardiff Bay nara', a riff on carbonara with rigatoni, pancetta, leeks, cream, and parmesan. A kids pasta is included in the summer holiday offer.

Llanfaes Dairy, a Welsh gelato parlour that started in Brecon with 16 flavours and now serves over 100 varieties, provides cones and tubs with flavours like Dubai chocolate, Creme Egg, mint choc, strawberry, blackberry, and apple crumble. The children's tub of gelato is part of the summer deal.
