Another familiar name is vanishing from the British high street as health and beauty chain Bodycare confirms it will shut down all of its stores. The decision, affecting 70 locations nationwide, marks a significant blow to town centres already grappling with a wave of retail closures.
Administrators Unable to Secure a Rescue
Joint administrators from Interpath Advisory were appointed last month in a final attempt to salvage the business. Despite efforts to find a buyer for the company as a going concern, no rescue deal materialised. Consequently, the difficult decision was made to commence a phased wind-down of the entire operation.
"It is unfortunately now clear that a sale of the business will not be possible," stated a spokesperson from Interpath. "Our focus is now on supporting employees and achieving the best possible outcome for creditors."
Significant Job Losses Expected
The closure process is expected to result in substantial redundancies across the company's workforce. While a specific number of job losses has not been officially confirmed, the scale of the shutdown suggests a significant impact on employees.
The administrators have confirmed that all stores will continue trading for a short period to sell remaining stock. This will be done through a series of closing-down sales before the final shutters come down for good.
