Manicure enthusiasts are turning to a TPO and HEMA-free at-home nail system ahead of an upcoming UK ban on the ingredient TPO. Sistaco's Mineral Bond Nail System uses finely milled mineral powders instead of liquid polish, acrylics, or dipping powders, offering a salon-quality finish that lasts over two weeks.
TPO Ban Details
TPO, or Trimethylbenzoyl diphenylphosphine oxide, has been reclassified as a CMR 1B substance (carcinogen, mutagen, reprotoxic) by BABTAC, the British Association of Beauty Therapy & Cosmetology. From 15th August 2026, manufacturers cannot place products containing TPO on the market in Great Britain. Nail technicians will be unable to purchase such products after 14th February 2027, though they may use existing stock after that date.
Sistaco's System Features
The brand says its formula is odourless, gentle on nails, and free from 16 toxic ingredients. The system includes an LED lamp, mineral bond applicator, six nail colours, base and top coat, and removal essentials. Sistaco claims most manicures take under ten minutes. The kit is currently reduced to £75 from £100.95, with an offer of three extra colours for free.
User Reviews
On Trustpilot, one reviewer wrote: "Sistaco is BY FAR the best system/polish that I have ever tried! I am also very conscious of toxins and love that this is non toxic! I also love that it lasts at least two weeks and can handle all the cooking, cleaning, hand washing, and childcare activities I do as a working mom!" Another said: "Little pot of magic. All the support you need from the staff, the product itself is amazing - so many colours and different applications down to mixing your own colours. So quick to do and get on with your day as soon as you are done. No more waiting around to dry, bye bye salon nails."
Alternatives Available
Other TPO-free options include the Green Flash™ LED Gel Polish Starter Kit (£93, down from £167) and Mylee's The Main Kit (£89, worth £157), which is HEMA, TPO, and cruelty-free.
