Shoppers are advised to plan ahead this Easter weekend as supermarkets across England and Wales adjust their opening hours for the bank holidays. While Scotland is exempt, larger stores in England and Wales must close on Easter Sunday, and many will operate reduced hours on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
For Easter Monday (April 6, 2026), most superstores will be open but with shorter hours. Tesco Extra stores, such as the one on Park Road in Liverpool, will open from 8am to 6pm. Most Tesco Express stores will maintain their usual opening times.
Asda's larger stores will generally be open from 8am to 10pm on Easter Monday, but customers are urged to check individual store times using Asda's store locator as hours may vary. Sainsbury's supermarkets will mostly operate between 8am and 8pm, while its convenience stores will open as usual from 7am to 11pm.
Morrisons shops will close earlier than usual at 8pm on Easter Monday, though most Morrisons Daily stores will follow their normal weekend hours. Aldi stores will be open from 8am to 8pm. M&S stores will also be open but with altered hours; for example, the Liverpool ONE branch will open at 9am but close at 6pm.
