Jackery portable power stations are currently discounted by up to £920, offering shoppers a way to prepare for potential winter power cuts. The Explorer 1000 v2 model has been reduced to £398 from £899, a saving of £501.
Power cuts can become more likely during autumn and winter, when strong winds, heavy rain, flooding and storms can damage power lines and other parts of the electricity network. While NESO expects no disruption, having a portable power source ready could prove useful when severe weather strikes and should the electricity supply be disrupted.
Explorer 1000 v2 features and savings
With a 1,070Wh capacity and weighing just 10.8kg, the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 is designed for everything from camping and caravanning to providing backup power at home. It uses LiFePO4 battery cells, which are built to withstand around 4,000 charging cycles, while its Emergency Super Charging mode can take the power station from empty to fully charged in as little as one hour, according to the Mirror.
For those looking to generate power away from the mains, the Explorer 1000 v2 bundled with a 100W solar panel offers another option, allowing the unit to be recharged using sunlight. It could be particularly useful for camping trips, caravanning holidays or keeping essential devices powered when you're away from home, with prices starting at £539, down from £1,199.
Larger models and alternatives
At the other end of the range, Jackery's larger power stations and bundles are designed for those who need considerably more power. For example, the 3kWh Solar Bundle Best Seller is currently available for £1,679, down from £2,599.
These larger-capacity power stations are ideal for keeping essential appliances running at home during a power cut, as well as for caravanning and longer off-grid adventures. Depending on the model, they can power items such as fridges, lights, Wi-Fi routers and coffee makers for more than 30 hours, while selected bundles come with solar panels for recharging away from the mains.
Another option is the DJI Power 2000 Portable Power Station, available from Currys for £959. It delivers up to 3,000W of power, operates at a quiet 29dB and is compatible with solar panels, making it a versatile choice for keeping essential devices running at home or away.
Meanwhile, the EcoFlow Delta 3 Max Plus Portable Power Station is available from Argos for £1,099. With a battery designed to last for up to 4,000 charging cycles, it could be a useful long-term option for providing backup power during outages or keeping devices running on off-grid adventures.
Customer feedback
The Jackery range has also been attracting plenty of positive feedback, with customers praising everything from its compact design to its handy charging options.
One buyer reviewing the Explorer 1000 v2 said: "First, this item is robust and space-efficient, fitting seamlessly in my workspace... When the power goes out, it becomes a real game changer. I can continue my tasks as if everything is normal, which is quite impressive. The most advantageous aspect for me? The USB-C ports. I can connect my Mac directly to it without needing an adapter. Incredibly useful!"
Another reviewer was equally impressed, describing it as a "Very well thought out and designed piece of kit" before adding: "Has helped us out of quite a few situations where power simply wasn't available. Easy to use with oodles of options - especially power saving and fast charging for emergencies."
However, the feedback wasn't entirely positive, with one customer reporting an issue after receiving their order: "Service homework, delivery and packaging were great. Unfortunately when I try to use the power station I got an error code, this is being looked into and customer service so far has been great."
Overall, the majority of buyers appeared pleased with their purchase, with another customer highlighting the flexibility of using the power station with solar panels: "Great item. Allows me to put my solar panels in different places whilst keeping the battery pack inside."
Another called it an 'amazing bit of kit' adding: "We now have multiple solar panels setup to charge this. Perfect for camping/Campervan and a life saver in a power cut! We've recommended to everyone!"
